The recent changes to the Members Only Area of our ContentManager websites allows for full implementation of custom content through the use of HTML widgets. A widget is simply a snippet of HTML code you copy from someplace on the web and paste into a special place in Members Only.
“Other Options” Section
In the new Members Only Area there is a new menu option on the right side of the page in the accordion. The name of this customizable menu item is “Other Options.” You have the ability to change the name of this area to better suit your needs. For instance, does your club take member dues online? You could rename this section “Member Dues” or “Member Payments.”
To change the name of the section or manage existing widgets, click the “Customize Section” link. To add a new widget, use the “Add a Widget” link.
“Customize Section” Link
When you click the Customize Section link, a dialog box will open. In the dialog, you’ll have an option to change the section name by double clicking on the current section name. In this example, the name is “Other Options,” as shown in the red circle. When you double click the name, the text will turn into a text box. Enter your new name in the box, then click outside of the text box or tab out of the box. Your change will be saved automatically and will appear when you refresh the page, which you can do using the link in the dialog box.
If you have existing widgets, they will be shown in the area next to the red arrow. The widget that I currently have is a video trailer that I have told to appear in the accordion as a link. When someone clicks the link, the trailer opens and plays in the main content area. You could do this same thing with a payment form or any other web-based content.
Note that here we have the option to turn on or turn off the setting to show the widget as a link as well as to delete the widget.
“Add a Widget” Link
The Add a Widget link, when clicked, opens a dialog box in which you can enter the name of a new widget, check the option to show as a link, and paste in the code you copied from the widget provider.
If you want to add introductory text for a widget, you can type in the text and then paste your widget below your text. If you need paragraph breaks in your text, it’s best to add paragraph marks before and after each paragraph. There are instructions in the dialog box on how to do this.
